Happy New Year! Here’s what’s happening in the Genetica Regis garden.
Current Projects
CBD Critical Mass F2
We’re in the second filial generation of our Critical Mass CBD project. The goal: stabilize a 1:1 THC:CBD ratio with the classic Critical Mass structure.
Status: 12 seeds germinated, 8 females identified. Selecting the best 3 for the next generation based on: - Cannabinoid ratio (lab testing pending) - Terpene profile (nose test: looking for sweet, earthy notes) - Structure and vigor
Autoflower Conversion: Northern Lights
Taking our Northern Lights cut through autoflower conversion. Generation 4 now showing ~95% auto traits while retaining the parent’s sedative terpene profile.
Expected release: Late 2026
High-CBG Experiment
Crossing a CBG-dominant male (White CBG) with our best relaxation-focused female (Purple Punch phenotype). First seeds harvested, will pop in spring.
Strain Performance Notes
From our fall harvest:
| Strain | THC | CBD | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Relief #4 | 12% | 8% | Excellent for daytime pain |
| Dreamtime OG | 18% | 1% | Heavy sedation, best for sleep |
| Mellow Haze | 14% | 6% | Clear-headed, good for focus |
Seed Availability
Currently Available: - Relief #4 (Regular seeds) — 5-pack - Dreamtime OG (Feminized) — 3-pack
Coming Soon: - Mellow Haze F2 (Regular) — Spring 2026 - CBD Critical Mass (Feminized) — Summer 2026
Check the Seeds page for ordering info.

Home Cannabis Cultivation: A Beginner’s Guide
Date: 2025-12-15 Tags: cannabis, tutorial
Growing your own cannabis at home can be incredibly rewarding — both medicinally and personally. Here’s what I’ve learned from my journey.
⚠️ Legal Notice: Always check your local laws. This guide is for educational purposes in regions where home cultivation is legal.
Why Grow Your Own?
- Quality control — You know exactly what goes into your medicine
- Cost savings — Initial investment pays off quickly
- Strain selection — Grow what works best for your needs
- Therapeutic hobby — Gardening is great for mental health
Basic Requirements
Space
You don’t need much. Options include: - Grow tent (2x2 or 4x4 feet) - Spare closet - Small room
Equipment Checklist
[ ] Grow light (LED recommended)
[ ] Ventilation fan + carbon filter
[ ] Grow tent or enclosed space
[ ] Pots (fabric pots work great)
[ ] Soil or growing medium
[ ] Nutrients
[ ] pH meter
[ ] Timer for lights
Light Schedule
- Vegetative stage: 18 hours on, 6 hours off
- Flowering stage: 12 hours on, 12 hours off
My Setup
I run a simple 4x4 tent with: - 240W LED (Samsung diodes) - 6” inline fan with carbon filter - Living soil in 7-gallon fabric pots
Keeps things simple and organic. The plants are happy, I’m happy.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Overwatering — #1 killer of new growers. Let soil dry between waterings.
- Poor ventilation — Plants need fresh air. Don’t skip the fan.
- Wrong pH — Keep it between 6.0-7.0 for soil.
- Nutrient burn — Less is more. Start at half strength.
Medical Benefits
For me, cannabis helps with: - Chronic pain management - Sleep issues - Anxiety relief
Everyone’s different. Keep a journal of what strains/doses work for you.
More grow guides coming soon. Stay lifted! 🌿
Understanding Cannabinoids: Beyond THC and CBD
Date: 2025-11-20 Tags: genetics, science, cannabinoids
When most people think of cannabis compounds, they think of THC (gets you high) and CBD (doesn’t get you high). But there’s so much more to the story.
The Major Cannabinoids
THC (Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol)
The primary psychoactive compound. Beyond the “high,” THC offers: - Pain relief - Anti-nausea effects - Appetite stimulation - Sleep aid (in the right dose)
CBD (Cannabidiol)
Non-intoxicating and widely studied for: - Anti-anxiety effects - Anti-inflammatory properties - Seizure reduction (FDA-approved for some conditions) - Modulating THC’s effects
CBG (Cannabigerol)
The “mother cannabinoid” — all other cannabinoids derive from CBG-A. Research suggests: - Antibacterial properties - Potential for glaucoma treatment - Anti-inflammatory effects
CBN (Cannabinol)
Forms when THC degrades. Known for: - Sedative effects - Potential sleep aid - Mild psychoactivity
CBC (Cannabichromene)
Often overlooked but research indicates: - Anti-inflammatory properties - Potential antidepressant effects - Works synergistically with other cannabinoids
The Entourage Effect
This is crucial: cannabinoids work better together than in isolation.
A strain with 15% THC, 2% CBD, rich terpenes, and minor cannabinoids often provides better therapeutic effects than a 25% THC isolate.
This is why we breed for full-spectrum profiles, not just high THC numbers.
Why This Matters for Breeding
At Genetica Regis, we select for: - Balanced cannabinoid ratios - Presence of minor cannabinoids - Consistent profiles across plants
Single-compound medicine has its place, but for many patients, the whole plant works better.
Testing & Transparency
We advocate for full cannabinoid testing on all genetics. When choosing seeds, look for breeders who provide: - Lab test results - Parent lineage - Cannabinoid predictions based on genetics
More on terpenes and how they interact with cannabinoids coming soon.
Knowledge is medicine.
